To play the titular role Momoa packed on 20lbs of lean muscle onto his 6ft 5in frame to achieve a warrior-worthy physique.
Before that he appeared in medieval fantasy drama Game of Thrones.
And despite a body that has quickly earned him status as a fully-fledged Hollywood heartthrob, Momoa is a happily settled father of two.
The couple have two children together, a four-year-old daughter, Lola, and two-year-old son, Nakoa-Wolf.
Lisa is also mother to 22-year-old Zoe Kravitz from her marriage to rocker Lenny Kravitz that ended in 1993.
